What is Emanata?
In comic books, Emanata refers to unrealistic pictorial elements emanating from a character or object to portray emotion. These elements symbolize something about the character or object, such teardrops for sadness, sweat drops for anxiety, question marks for confusion, or motion lines that artists draw besides characters’ faces. The term is derived from the Italian adjective emanato, which means radiated, promulgated, issued.
